I am wondering if I am too heavy for my bike (pedal). I got my second flat this summer from no cause but simply riding and sitting on it. I checked...nothing on the ground at all, completely clear. Same as the last time it happened. I am a bit uncertain how I want to handle this. I can get it repaired....and how long until it happens again.

Damn. One of the things I was looking forward to living by Barshore was biking to work.

5km without stopping to walk (except for a couple of seconds to let a car turn in front of me and once long enough to start a new playlist on my iPod).

I wanted to...boy did I want to, but I didn't let myself. Still half an hour in length.

To confirm, I have movers coming on July 20th at 9:00 am. However, I have hopes of only needing their services for one trip, instead of two, if I can get some boxes and such into individual cars of whomever is available.

kattale, I may take you up on your offer, I ride my bike to the new house, get a ride back with you, if we can pull that off before 9:00. I will followup up with you later.

It’d be nice if the Bayshore offramp from the 417 is open by then.

Moving in 2 weeks. Eeek…it’s coming up fast.

May there be a layer of hell for people who calibrate traffic light pressure pads, such that motorbikes won’t trip a light change.

Got some packing done today, and move stuff from the garage into the living room so Helen has more room to plant stuff in the garage. I am thinking about checking out rental prices on a van or pickup, a day or two with one and I can get a moderate amount of stuff to the new house myself. I’d like to avoid having to make the movers make 2 trips.

Apparently I have a fair bit of stuff to move still. I was tryping up a list of what needs moving for the mover, so they could do an email estimate (how much furniture and so forth), and they had to edge up their phone estimate a bit. What seems like a few things here and there, kind of adds up when you try and type it all into a list. They may have to do 2 trips to manage it all, which stings in terms of extra time commitment, but what can you do.

5 km, with a 9 pound weight belt.
30 minutes.

I think I am pleased. I still need to take short walking breaks here and there (and I do mean short), and I’d like to get to the point where I can run the whole thing…..but still.

Many thanks to scubajim and pezchica for the loan of the weight belt. That’s just the kind of thing they’ll make me wear for the test, and it fits nicely without bouncing around.

Well, I need to throw this open it seems, due to a nearly non-existent response to my last post about this.

If you are available to help on Saturday or Sunday, July 19, and 20 to help me move I will be grateful and ecstatic. Which of those 2 days it is will depend on my conversation with professional movers and when I can organize it, and I will nail it to one day probably by end of week. If you know you definitely can, please by all means drop a comment here. Hopefully I may see some of you to help the process move smoother.

Absolutely brilliant time at dagibbs’ cottage. I will write more, with a few pictures later, but it was a fantastic escape from the world, and a wonderful time with some great people.

Three Things I've Done That You Probably Haven't meme:

For offer.

A variety of VHS tapes, non commercial. Mostly taped movies off tv, and those are mostly silver screen musicals. A handful of other, I spotted some Black Adder in the pile (although memory serves me a grainy recording). Also a few bootleg recordings of broadway stage shows (yes I know...trust me, it deprived no one of ticket sales, I'd pay to see any of them live given a chance)

I am not planning to catalog them all. If these tickle your fancy, please make arrangements to swing by and have a look. They won't get moved with me. If you are curious as to a title (Oh Mike, do you have XYZ by any chance) I can check and let you know. If you like silver screen musicals, there is some stuff you'll like in there.

Could I also direct people here once more. It is my poll checking people's availability to help me move. I appreciate you may be busy, I have no expectations, but I would ask if you could give an indication of potential availability (anyone not in Ottawa, I will assume you are no unless you feel moved to come by). If you wish to caveat your response, feel free to leave a comment. I need to start making plans for the move...and determine if I need to hire some movers instead of just rent a truck. I also realize it is the weekend of baronial muster. That's just the way the chips fall. If you are out of town because of that, have a drink for me.
